NEW PROGRAMS & ROLES FOR SUMMER 2024: There are some new opportunities for staff in Summer 2024. Teachers can apply for the following roles via T-IV applications.

  • Career and Technical Educational Middle School Summer Camp Program: The School District of Philadelphia, through the Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE), is looking for veteran CTE instructors to supervise and assist summer middle-grade participants in in-person career exploration and summer camp opportunities.
  • Extended School Year: The following are new opportunities for staff to apply via a T-IV application process for summer 2024:
    • Alternative ESY at Fox Chase Farm: Vocational Itinerants and Classroom Assistants
    • Related Services: Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech Therapists will apply via T-IV instead of the summer staffing application. OTs, PTs and SLPs will meet with a caseload of students to provide the IEP-designated services at multiple sites on a weekly basis
    • Social Skills Coordinators
    • Summer Technology Coordinators (only available through ESY for summer 2024)
    • Teacher Leaders (formerly called ESY Coordinators)
  • Summer Achievers: For Summer 2024, the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families is offering full day summer programming through a new initiative, Summer Achievers, and the School District of Philadelphia is providing the academic component of programming within Summer Achievers.
    • The academic component will focus on mathematics and language arts through instructional blocks and social-emotional learning through Community Meetings. Summer Achievers will happen in schools across the City, and, wherever possible, enrichment providers will remain in the communities they serve during the school year for after school enrichment.
    • This model is different from previous District-run summer programs, and Summer Achievers Teachers and Point Teachers will be the only District-appointed staff at each program. Summer Achievers Teachers will provide academic programming to students who will enter 1st through 8th grade in the upcoming school year. Summer Achievers Teachers will teach mathematics and language arts using a district-provided curriculum in addition to facilitating a Community Meeting. Please refer to the T-IV for more information about this exciting opportunity!
  • Young Entrepreneurs: Young Entrepreneurs is a five-week entrepreneurship program for scholars who will begin 9th grade in Fall ’24 and would like to gain real world, practical experience while learning how to start a business.
  • SUMMER PROGRAM STAFF ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES
    • Unfortunately, the District is NOT able to offer attendance incentives for Summer 2024. Staff who work summer programs will be compensated according to the information in the Summer 2024 opportunities chart and/or T-IV announcements
  • REMINDER OF CORE BUILDING STAFF EXPECTATIONS
    • Continuing with the role expectations from Summer 2022, Assistant Principals, Bilingual Counseling Assistants (BCA), Climate Managers, Counselors, School Nurses, Secretaries, and Student Climate Staff will be expected to serve students, families, and programs for all programs housed together, regardless of what their initial assignments may be.
    • ESY will be standalone sites, with few exceptions listed in the Summer 2024 Site List. Newcomer Program will be co-located at select Elementary Program sites. Summer School will be co-located with other programs at all sites (see site list here and site map here).
